CCPA Newsletter

Welcome to our July CCPA Supporters Newsletter.  We've got some very exciting news this month as we launch our plans for our forthcoming Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

You may already know about how we support families locally but we'd like to tell more about how we work nationally.

Charities couldn't mange without the generous support of volunteers, including trustees. If you are interested in taking on a trustee role we'd love to hear from you.

CCPA pop up shop comes to Stafford!

This September CCPA is joining with other charities and organisations across the country in helping raise awareness of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

We're very excited to announce that we will be hosting a 'pop up' shop in the Guildhall Shopping Centre, in Stafford's town centre, from the 20-24 September. This will be a fantastic opportunity to, not only tell more people about the work CCPA does, but also get people involved with volunteering and fundraising.

We are planning a packed five days of activities including business networking, kids crafting sessions, volunteers celebrations, all culminating in hosting our Stafford 10k runners on race day on 24 September. Check out our Facebook page for regular updates.

You can get involved with helping CCPA can raise awareness of the impact of childhood cancer on children, young people, parents and the wider family!

This September you and your friends, colleagues and family can become part of TEAMGOLD by wearing your Gold Ribbon, the internationally recognised symbol for childhood cancer, get involved with one of our fundraising events or even host your own!

If you'd like get involved with helping in our 'pop up' shop, selling Gold Ribbon pins or hosting your own event then give Rachael a call on 07982 426 142

How CCPA supports the Support Workers

You may already know about the work we do with local families but were you aware that CCPA is also a membership organisation, uniting charities and support groups across the UK that help families through the trauma of their child's cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery?

One element of this work is to bring the Support Workers from these varied organisations together giving them the chance to network and share information.

Support Workers work directly with families and so these regular support meetings aim cover topics that relate to the day-to-day workings of a charity: support for families/patients, fundraising, problem-solving, working with related charities, awareness and campaigns, training needs, current legislation, working alongside health professionals etc.

All meetings are open to representatives of our Member charities and if you'd like to learn more about the charities and groups we work with check out our members' page on our website

Become a Trustee and play a vital part

If you have a business, accounting or financial background and would like to help CCPA grow then we'd love to hear from you!

CCPA is keen to recruit new volunteer trustees on its Executive Board to help us continue our work both in the local community, nationally and internationally.

Our Trustees play a vital role in making sure that CCPA is properly run, managed and funded. Trustees must be over 18 and able to spare four to six hours each month, including attending 4-5 Board meetings a year and the AGM.

Interested? Then please get in touch with our Trustee Ros Francis by email for more information. Meet our current board members by visiting www.ccpa.org.uk
